Buying a piece from Deason’s is straightforward, but the exact steps depend on what you’re buying. Every listing is badged so you know before you buy which path applies — “Antique · ships direct” or “Modern · FFL transfer”.
1. Choose your item
Browse by era or type, and check the badge on the listing. Antique firearms (pre-1899), edged weapons, militaria, and non-firearm collectibles ship straight to you. Modern firearms (1899 or later) must transfer through a licensed dealer near you.
2. Place your order
Add the item to your cart and check out. If it’s a modern firearm, you’ll be asked for your local FFL dealer’s information during checkout so we know where to ship it.
Most local gun shops accept transfers, usually for a $20–$50 fee. Call one near you before you order and ask them to email us a signed copy of their license — that speeds things up.
3. Payment
At this time we accept payment by check or money order. We’ll confirm your order and provide payment instructions after checkout. We’re working on adding card payment options — check back or call if you’d prefer a different method.

We pack and ship
Once payment clears, your item is packed discreetly, insured for full value, and shipped via a tracked, signature-required service. Typical handling time is 2–3 business days.

It arrives at your door
No dealer, no transfer fee, no paperwork on your end.

3-day inspection window
Check the piece against its description. If something’s not right, contact us within 3 days — see our Returns & Guarantee policy.
4b. If it’s a modern firearm (FFL transfer)

We ship to your dealer
Once we have your FFL dealer’s license on file and payment clears, we ship the firearm directly to them — never to a residence.

Your dealer receives it
Your FFL dealer logs the firearm in and lets you know it’s arrived, usually within a few days of shipping.

You visit the dealer in person
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID.

Background check & paperwork
Your dealer runs you through ATF Form 4473 and the required NICS background check on the spot, same as buying a firearm from their own counter.

Take it home
Once the check clears, the firearm is yours. Your dealer’s transfer fee is paid to them directly, not to us.
The firearm returns to us and we refund the item price. Your dealer’s transfer fee (if already paid) is set by them and isn’t refundable by us. Full details on our Shipping & FFL Transfers page.
Know your local laws
Firearm and weapon laws vary by state, county, and city, and you’re responsible for knowing and following the laws where you live. By completing checkout you’re certifying that you can legally receive the item in your jurisdiction — if a sale turns out to be prohibited where you are, we’ll cancel and refund the order.
